Welcome! My name is Gideon Schlichter. I’m a piano technician serving Rockwall, TX and surrounding areas.
Experience/Training:
I graduated as a Certified Piano Technician from the Piano Technician Academy in 2019. Since then, I have continued to grow in my trade as an associate member of the Piano Technician’s Guild, and as a full-time technician, tuning and servicing hundreds of pianos across Texas.
About Me:
I started playing the piano at six. Today I travel part-time as a musician, and serve on the worship team at my local church.

Tuning method
- Impact lever used on upright pianos enabling high precision and tuning stability
- Pianos deviating more than 3-5% from A440 are tuned twice (no extra charge), a uniquely high standard resulting in even, beautiful tunings
- Combining aural and software-assisted methods, pianos are tuned to the highest standard possible. This method produces a beautifully balanced temperament and stretches the octaves in a natural way, resulting in a sound full of life.

What services do you offer?
I primarily offer tuning, repair, cleaning, and light regulation.
My most common packages:
Standard Tuning: regular maintenance tuning intended for pianos that have been regularly serviced. Pitch correction is included free of charge if needed.
Full Service: a 4-hr service designed to get a piano back into shape. Includes tuning, pitch correction, small repairs, and light cleaning/regulation. Recommended for pianos that have not been serviced in more than a few years, or pianos that need more attention than just tuning.
Other: many other services are available such as individual string replacement, hammer replacement, etc. Feel free to call or message to discuss your needs. I do not personally offer restoration services, moving services, or full regulations, however, I can help recommend trustworthy technicians to you if you are in need of those services!

How much does it cost?
Standard Tuning:
$205 + tax (if piano was serviced 12 months ago)
$185 + tax (if piano was serviced 6 months ago)
$165 + tax (if piano was serviced 3 months ago)
Full Service:
$385 + tax
Payment is collected upon completion of appointment.

My availability varies depending on the time of year, sometimes I can fit an appointment in within a week, other times wait is a month or longer.
What is your service area?
I primarily serve Rockwall, TX and surrounding areas including Rowlett, Mesquite, Garland, Forney, Terrell, and Royse City.
If you are located outside of that area, feel free to reach out as I often travel outside the Rockwall area.
How long does an appointment take?
A standard tuning typically takes 1.5-2 hours. A full service is a 4-hr appointment.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, card, check, Venmo, Zelle, or CashApp. Card payments are processed through a secure online invoicing system.
Payment is collected upon completion of appointment.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for the appointment?
Please clear your piano of decorations, as it will need to be opened up for service.
Please ensure a quiet environment during tuning.
What if I can't find the time slot I want on your calendar?

What is your cancellation policy?
I maintain a busy schedule and ask that you do your best to keep your appointment. However, if anything should come up, reach out immediately and we can reschedule or cancel free of charge.
Do you service organs or electric keyboards?
No. I only service acoustic pianos.
I've played for hours and hours in the days since you worked your magic. I love what you did. Whether I'm playing some weighty, aggressive Rachmaninoff, or the swimming water-colors of Debussy, or the crystalline lines of a Bach fugue, the sound is true, rich, and gorgeous... Also, your gracious manner and professionalism were most appreciated.
